The Art of Resolving Conflict Mindfully: Gillian Higgins
In this session, Gillian Higgins (international barrister, mediator, and mindfulness teacher) will share her experience on how mindfulness can help us to develop skills to navigate conflict – at work and home.
The role of mindful listening, the power of self-compassion and the ability to tune in with self-awareness to our own contributions to conflict will be addressed in this interactive session.
The Q&A will be led by Ruth Ormston, Co-Director of The Mindfulness Initiative.
About Gillian Higgins
Gillian is an international criminal barrister and commercial mediator at The Chambers of 9 Bedford Row, in London. Over the past twenty years, she has represented leading political figures in trials of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes before the International Criminal Court and the United Nations international criminal tribunals in The Hague and Tanzania. Gillian is also a mindfulness meditation teacher and is actively involved in promoting well-being in the legal profession. She has pioneered the introduction of mindfulness at the Bar and teaches professionals in the workplace and members of her community.
In 2019, she established Everyday Mindfulness and her first book, Mindfulness at Work and Home was published. She is also a meditation teacher on the App Insight Timer.
