Mindfulness in Westminster report – online launch, reflections and Q&A
Join the Mindfulness Initiative for a unique opportunity to explore what a more mindful politics might look like.
The Mindfulness Initiative’s new report, Mindfulness in Westminster: Reflections from UK Politicians, is a reflection of 10 years of mindfulness training in the UK Parliament, and brings together politicians’ insights on the personal and interpersonal benefits they have experienced. The report makes a compelling case for providing politicians with evidence-based psycho-social training, such as mindfulness, to help manage their mental wellbeing, their everyday effectiveness, and their ability to ‘disagree better’.
At this webinar, chaired by the Mindfulness Initiative’s new director, Richard Edwards, the authors of the report, Ruth Ormston and Jamie Bristow will summarise some of the key themes to emerge from politicians’ experience of mindfulness training. Participants will then hear from politicians who contributed to the report, as well as from those further afield who will reflect on the pressures of political life, the contribution that mindfulness could make, and its potential impact within their own political landscape.
External speakers: Tim Ryan (Former U.S. Congressman), Tim Loughton MP (Conservative Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group Co-chair), Caroline Lucas MP (Green MP and Vice-chair of the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group).
