Trainer’s Sharing Forum: Exploring the ‘Inside-Out Group model’, Griffith et al, 2019.
At our next Trainer’s Sharing Forum we will explore together how, as mindfulness trainers, we can skilfully hold a group in a workplace setting. Looking at the Inside Out Group model to give a brief framework to look at some key themes: the importance of staying embodied and holding a space in a non-judgmental way.
The’ ‘Inside Out Group’ model, developed by Trish Bartley and Gemma Griffiths, helps make sense of the complexities of group processes in mindfulness-based programs.
It explores four key capacities:
- Inside out embodying (non-judgemental present moment awareness);
- Reading the group (understanding events based on group processes);
- Holding the group (cultivating an environment to facilitate learning); and
- Befriending the group (engaging the heart in mindfulness teaching).
This forum will briefly introduce the model and invite discussion around aspect ‘1’: embodying non-judgemental present moment awareness.
This session will be valuable to all mindfulness teachers and will be facilitated by MWC member, Martin Summerfield.
