Re-connection: how mindfulness and compassion training can help us meet the existential crises of the 21st Century: Jamie Bristow

This webinar is free to MWC members.

Followers and non-members are welcome to attend at a cost of only £15.00.

Sustainability scholars are beginning to acknowledge that people’s inner world has been ignored for too long, and that this is why necessary action on the climate crisis has failed so far. In this context, mindfulness training is emerging as one of the most promising approaches for building important psychological capacities and shifting mindsets. In addition to supporting elements associated with climate action, such as increased nature connection and pro-environmental attitudes, mindfulness works more broadly to help us reclaim and reorient attention towards what matters, reflect more wisely, and act from a place of collective purpose.

In this session Jamie Bristow, Co-Director of the Mindfulness Initiative will review a three-fold model for understanding how mindfulness supports human agency, our ability to act intentionally, that was proposed in his 2020 Mindfulness Initiative discussion paper Mindfulness: Developing Agency in Urgent Times, and explore his latest research and publication Reconnection: Meeting the Climate Crisis Inside Out.
