About Vidyamala Burch

Vidyamala Burch OBE is the co-founder of The Breathworks Foundation, an international  mindfulness and compassion charity.

After a spinal injury left her with chronic pain as a teenager, Vidyamala turned to mindfulness and meditation as a way to manage her symptoms. This led her to develop Mindfulness for Health, a pioneering programme that has now reached over 100,000 people and is recognised worldwide.

Vidyamala was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2022 for services to Wellbeing and Pain Management. She was made an honorary member of The British Pain Society for her outstanding work for the alleviation of pain, as well as being named on the Shaw Trust Power 100 List of the UK’s most influential disabled people for four years running.
